Well hello there! Happy New Year friends – or at least I hope we’re still friends…we are right?? Ok, This is awkward. It’s been well over two months since we’ve blogged and as I’m sure you realized quite some time ago that week 6 of our One Room Challenge has long since come and gone without a reveal.

You know, it’s funny that after all of the many setbacks we’ve had throughout this whole process, the disappointment of not meeting a deadline – even one you set for yourself (however unattainable) – doesn’t seem to sting any less. And so when reveal day came, and we were left with still so much to do & no pretty after photos to post, I found the words just as non-existent. As the days stretched on, the “to-do” lists only seeming to get longer & what felt like nothing of substance to write about, I began feeling like a big blogger failure.  And so, I took a step back.

But you know, if there is nothing else we’ve learned, it’s that sometimes despite your best efforts, things just don’t go according to plan. Sometimes things are out of your control and learning to roll with the punches is a reality we’re still getting used to even after 2+ years on this journey.

So this year, while everyone is busy reviewing last year’s goals or making new promises for how they’ll change things up in 2015, Kes & I are taking on one simple mentality to completing the Dreamhouse.

Let’s take our time to get things done the way we want them.

That’s it. That’s all. No more stress.

We’re taking the approach that “it’ll be done when it’s done” which even I’ll admit proved to be a bit of a difficult task when the countdown to the holidays began toward the end of last year.  But Christmas came and went and our lack of a house of our own didn’t bring on the end of the world.

So we’ve stopped setting deadlines. No more project completion dates that inevitably change because contractors decide not to show up, or living life gets in the way of DIY projects. No more arbitrary move in dates that come and go, only to bring with them more frustrations & disappointment. We’ll still be here to bring all of you along with us through it all, but we’re officially done worrying about the “when.”

If you were following along on Instagram before our little bout of “radio silence” over the holidays, you know we’ve had a lot of progress in the weeks since I last gave you a peek inside the Dreamhouse here on the blog. Over the next little while I’ll be getting you up to speed with where we’re at – including what happened with the entryway, how things turned out with the tiling, how we made out with the kitchen, installing the hardwood & so much more.
