It’s DECEMBER!!  Where has this year gone??  It’s been a looong while since we checked in with all of you here in blog land. We’ve had a busy few months of ups and downs and decided that we needed a break and some much needed R&R.  But we figured we couldn’t let the holidays come and go without making our way back and what better way to re-introduce ourselves than with a friendly walk through the Dreamhouse. We’ve got the main floor of the house all dressed for the holidays so come on in for a little Christmas home decor inspiration!

Today we’re also excited to be joining some of our favourite Canadian bloggers in a week long Canadian Blogger Home Tour hop!  We joined this fabulous bunch in the Spring and it’s always a treat to view the tours from this particular group because everyone has such a unique sense of style and all of their homes are beautiful in their own way. We have to say a special thanks to Shannon and Christina for organizing this for everyone. You can find ALL 25 of their incredible homes all decked out for the season at the bottom of this post. There are 5 new ones posted every day so be sure to check out the ones you missed earlier in the week and then come back for the rest!

If you’re new here, welcome! We’re Tash & Kes and if you’d like to, you can get to know us and a little about our blog here. But enough with the formalities, let’s get on with the tour!

The first living space you meet on the main floor is what we like to call the conversation area just to the left of the entryway. When we designed the house, we were very against having a formal living room so we created this space to be a casual area to chat with friends or curl up with a good book & a glass of wine away from the tv.  As you can see we’re STILL searching for the perfect rug for this space – so it’s still something of a work in progress, albeit a pretty great one.

We built our faux fireplace to anchor the space a couple of years ago. Eventually the plan is to add a gas insert to convert it into a working fireplace but for now it gives us a nice place to decorate for the holidays. I mean, where else were we going to hang the stockings??

I love using fresh greens in my Christmas home decor. There’s just something so crisp & festive about it.  They also smell fantastic!

We also added a second tree to the space this year because…well…I for one don’t think you can ever have too many Christmas trees!

The layout of our main floor is essentially one very long open space, that we’ve used furniture pieces to separate. This view right here, looking back toward the back of the rear of the house is one of my favourites  It’s nice to sit here and essentially take in the whole space.

Continuing along from the conversation area takes you to our family room.

We switched up the theme for the family room and our big tree this year, opting for the traditional red, but accenting it with black, gold & plaids.

Kes was away, so I had to tackle putting up this 12′ monster all on my own.  Also – pre-lit trees are awesome, until half of the lights go out and you need to restring 3 of the 5 sections. Needless to say I’ve been sore for days… I think it turned out pretty well though if I do say so myself.

We’re in the process of building a dining table to replace this one so we decided not to go all out on a tablescape that will essentially never get used.

We’re pretty excited that this year we’ll finally have a table that will be more in line with our modern aesthetic and suit the space, but more importantly one that will fit all of our entire family for the large Christmas Eve dinner we host. But we’ll share more on that in the coming weeks….

Turning right from the dining area – and the last stop on the tour is our kitchen.

Our kitchen gets pretty heavy traffic so I like to keep things simple as far as decorations in here. A few hints of the holidays here & there, but nothing that will really get in the way when preparing meals.

I do have one tiny shelf that I’ve devoted entirely to all things pretty & Christmasy… because well, why not? LOL!

And what coffee covfefe station would be complete without a few sweet holiday treats?

So there you have it!  Thanks for taking the time to walk through our little peek of Christmas inside the Dreamhouse! Bye for now, friends!

And don’t forget if you’re looking for more Holiday inspiration, we’ve got it here all week! Come back everyday and visit each blogger’s post below to to see how they’re welcoming the coming holiday season. You can also follow along on Instagram with the hashtag #CBHomeTour!
