I just had a feeling things were moving along a little too smoothly….

It’s week 4 of our One Room Challenge where we’re participating along with the 20 designers & over 150 bloggers in the linking event over at Calling it Home to transform a space in just 6 weeks. If you’ve been following along on our progress to complete our #DreamBedroom & #MasterBathRetreat, you’ll know that thus far in Week 1, Week 2 & Week 3, things have been moving along at a good pace.  But what challenge would be complete without a few setbacks right??  Well this seems to be our week for that across the board….

Plumbing & Bedroom feature wall

We’re having major scheduling issues with our plumber which means that the work for the en-suite has yet to be completed. Which of course means that the bedroom feature wall still looks pretty much like this:

Our plan for the feature wall behind the bed is to create a DIY pallet wall using the many left over pallets we have from various projects around the Dreamhouse. This gorgeous DIY wall from Cape27 Blog is our current inspiration.

But with the plumbing for the en-suite yet to be completed, we still haven’t been able to get started on the wall. And without a firm commitment on a date from our plumber, it’s also looking like we may be adding to our already long list of to-dos. Sigh…

Paint

Our paint order was delayed so it didn’t arrive in time for us to take advantage of the daylight hours last weekend.  Thankfully it’s here now, but that also means we’ll be playing a bit of catch up trying to get the space painted along with everything else.

Lighting

Last week we showed you a few of the options we’re considering for the vanity lighting. As if our luck couldn’t get any better, none of our choices are available to ship and arrive in time for the reveal. So now it’s back to the drawing board.

It’s looking like we’ve got a bit of an uphill battle on our hands.

Aside from all of the obstacles that cropped up this week, we were however able to get a couple of things crossed off the list.

First of all, we’ve FINALLY completed all of the tiling!  And seriously, you guys. I can’t be more happy with how it all turned out! Kes’ idea to create an ombre effect on the shower walls turned out so much better than I could have imagined. I love how the texture on these white tiles gives it that little touch of glam.

All we need to do now is get them grouted.

We also got our DIY quartz countertop finished this week.  This was one of the projects we had on the list that I was expecting to be complicated & really time consuming, but it was WAY simpler than I anticipated and we actually knocked it out in an afternoon.

I’m pretty excited to get it mounted onto the vanity & put the sinks in place. If you follow us on Instagram, you might have seen the sneak peek we shared of the lovely vessel sinks we purchased from The Water Closet.

Here’s where our list is at now. Two steps forward; 5 steps back….

• Create a feature wall behind the bed
• Install in-floor heating mat in the en-suite
• Build shower base & waterproof walls
• Lay Ditra underlayment & tile bathroom floors
• Tile shower floor & walls (DONE!)
• Run plumbing for shower
• Connect vanity sink drains
• Install wall-mounted faucets
• Install shower fixtures
• Install toilet
• Paint entire space
• Assemble & hang vanity
• Create countertop (DONE!)
• Trim & baseboards
• Install light fixtures
• Furnish & Decorate!!

Just two weeks to go now, and we’re really starting to feel the weight of all of everything that’s still left to do. Wish us luck!!
