Happy Thursday! It’s week 3 and we’ve reached the half way point of our One Room Challenge!!

If you missed our previous updates, you can go back to read Week 1 & Week 2 where we shared the before of our entire master suite & the plans for our #MasterBathRetreat.

The bedroom space still looks much as it did last week, with the exception of the windows that have now been trimmed. We’ve also cleaned up a bit & removed all of the drywall pieces left from the wall that needed to be opened for the en-suite plumbing, which should happen next week.

Despite the minimal progress on the bedroom, I’m feeling pretty good as we’ve been able to keep the momentum going and are making some great progress in the en-suite. The tiling of the shower walls is underway and we’re almost there. We decided to create a light to dark effect on the wall and so we started with our dark grey subway tile on the bottom, followed by the lighter grey above it.

The top third of the wall will have white ‘basket-weave’ textured tile, which we’ll be picking up this weekend.

We also got the vanity assembled this week and hung on the wall (for placement of the mounting screws only; we’ve since taken it down so we can paint).

Speaking of paint, we’ve FINALLY been able to make a decision on colours! If you remember, last year we were selected as members of the 2014 PARA Blog Crew, which meant that as Brand Ambassadors they provided us the paint for every paint project we completed last year (seen here). Despite our 2014 Blog Crew term having come to an end in the fall, we’re fortunate enough to be continuing to work with PARA on this project!

For the #DreamBedroom we’ve selected PARA Sterling Spoon (PF-71) which happens to be one of the 2015 Trend Colours. It’s a beautifully neutral grey that we think will work well to carry the shades of grey we’re using in the en-suite into the bedroom space.

For the #MasterBathRetreat, we’ll be using PARA Butterfly Jasmine (PF-26), also one of this year’s trend colours. We thought a white would be perfect to balance out all of the grey in the space & also to help keep things light and airy.

When it came time to choose accent an colour, we weren’t really sure what direction we should go. Although the majority of you on facebook seem to be very decisively pro turquioise, we decided against it. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some turquoise. But if you remember our paint choices from the last ORC you know that we used it as an accent on the main floor and so we wanted to do something a bit different for our master. In the end, we opted for PARA Pixie Pop (PF-3), which Kes and I both love!

On a side note, can I just say how awesome it is to have a husband that when you say “Let’s do something bold and dramatic with fuschia or purple in our bedroom”, his response is “Yea, that would be $h!t hot!!”?!

I totally married the right guy…

Paint has been ordered and should arrive in time for us to paint this weekend! I’m so looking forward to getting some paint up on these walls!

This week, we also picked up these awesome sconces for the bedroom!

We’re still in the process of sourcing lighting for the en-suite, but here are some of the ones we’re liking right now…

We absolutely love the first ones, but don’t really love the price, considering we’ll need 3. What do you think?

Still lots to do, but we’re getting there…

Color scheme developing….

Here’s a quick recap of where we’re at with the to-do list:

  • Create a feature wall behind the bed (Haven’t started. En-suite plumbing still in-progress.)
  • Install in-floor heating mat in the en-suite
  • Build shower base & waterproof walls
  • Lay Ditra underlayment & tile bathroom floors
  • Tile shower floor & walls (75% done. Wall tiles are 2/3 complete. Still need to grout.)
  • Paint entire space (Paint has been ordered and is on it’s way!)
  • Assemble & hang vanity
  • Install countertop
  • Trim & baseboards (Started)
  • Add lighting
  • Furnish & Decorate!!

That’s it for this week, lovelies!
