Revealing our Dream Kitchen
IT'S KITCHEN REVEAL DAY!!!! After 7 long weeks of having our kitchen torn apart, our main floor thrown into the chaos of packages, tools, & building materials - and definitely more takeout meals & sleepless nights than I care to admit, we're so excited to finally be able to share this space with you all! Welcome to our Dream Kitchen.
The Dream Kitchen: Racing to the finish (#ORC Week 6)
We're finally into the home stretch of our dream kitchen makeover. It's week 6 - which if you're familiar with the One Room Challenge is typically the day of the big reveal. This round however because of all the hurricanes & flooding that have impacted so many people across the US over the last few months, the reveal date has been extended to give everyone an extra week. Thankfully we haven't been hit with any natural disasters, but we've definitely had our share of setbacks in the kitchen so for us, that extra week has been a bit of a blessing in disguise.
Elements of a Dream Kitchen: Sink & faucet (#ORC Week 5)
Well we've made it to week 5 of the ORC which means we're into the home stretch. This week we're taking you through a few of the details - the little luxuries that will elevate our kitchen from its current basic state to truly realizing the dream we've envisioned for the last 5 years. First things first - let's talk about the sink & faucet.
The Dream Kitchen: Open shelving – because we really need more storage (#ORC Week 4)
We're into Week 4 of our 6 week kitchen makeover for the One Room Challenge. This week we're adding some open shelving. Whenever anyone walks into our kitchen, the first comment we get is usually get is "Wow, that's a lot of cabinets" and to be fair, they're not wrong. We do have a lot of cabinets.
The Dream Kitchen: Let me upgrade you! (#ORC Week 3)
We've reached the half way mark of our kitchen makeover for the One Room Challenge. If you missed the previous 2 weeks, feel free to go get caught up. In Week 1 we shared our overall design plan for the space. Week 2 was all about our colour inspiration and a little progress update. This week we're getting into the details of the biggest element we'll be upgrading.
Making of a Dream Kitchen: It all started with a kettle (#ORC Week 2)
It's week 2 of the One Room Challenge and we're participating again for our fourth time. Last week we revealed our plans to tackle our kitchen. Before we get into the progress we've made over the last week, I wanted to give you a little insight into the colour inspiration for our kitchen design.
The heart of the home – Our Dream Kitchen (#ORC Week 1)
Welcome back friends! Well here we are - summer has officially drawn to a close and with the cooler temperatures comes that inevitable urge to get back into project mode. We still have a mile-long list of to-dos and projects yet to be completed before the house will feel like it's anywhere close to being 'done.' but the number one question we get asked is: "So is your house done now?", followed closely by "What's still left to be done on the house?" or "What project are you working on next?"
Ryobi North – Build a Modern Muskoka Chair
When we set out to build seating for our backyard fire pit, Muskoka chairs (or Adirondack chairs for our American friends) seemed like the perfect option. In true 'Dreamhouse' fashion though, we put a bit of a modern spin on the Canadian classic. Our Modern Muskoka Chair has sleeker, more angular lines than the original, but all the comfort of cottage life. Here's how we did it:
Ryobi North – Sitting Fireside for Canada’s 150
There's just a few short days to go before Canada celebrates it's 150th birthday and all across the country people are getting ready for the party. Everywhere you go, businesses & homeowners alike are getting into the Canada Day sprit with displays of national pride, flags & colours. When RYOBI reached out to us to create a Canadian themed DIY in celebration of Canada's 150, we needed not look further than our own backyard (pun intended)!
Quick & Eco-friendly bathroom update
We're almost through the month of May! How did that happen?? Oh, right - I guess we've been so consumed with all things master bedroom that April just seemed to completely pass us by. That doesn't mean though that we let Earth month come and go without taking some time to make a few energy saving changes in the Dreamhouse.
