Today is the final day in our Design Week series! We’ve taken you behind the scenes on the exterior, from inspiration, material choices, and the many, MANY decisions on colour. Now it’s finally time to see how it’s all coming together. So without further ado…here it is!!
It’s still a work in progress but we’re absolutely LOVING how it’s looking so far! It’s kind of surreal to watch the colour rendering come to life over time. If you remember yesterday…
and now…
Pretty cool right??
Check out the fine details on the Hardie materials…
The south wall is almost complete and then they’ll be making their way across the back of the house. We’ll update you with more pics as more progress is made.
One last look before we go..
The only thing we’re still a bit on the fence with is the trim. I do love the contrast, but we’d spent so much time envisioning it in a darker grey, I think we’re still not quite 100% in love with the lighter colour. I don’t know it’s growing on me, but I think I have to wait till its all complete & then decide. Who knows – maybe we’ll make it a PARA paint project in the spring…
So what do you think?? Do you love it? Are you a fan of the high contrast trim or should we tone it down with some paint? Leave a comment below & weigh in!
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.

I’m liking it so far!!!!
Leave it be!!!! Wait till its all done and the stone is on, then decide. The stone will pull it all together π

Thanks Jen! Yea, the stone will definitely add another dimension. I guess we’ll see when it all comes together. π

Thanks Charlotte!! I thought you guys might like. From what I’ve heard & seen of Aussi homes in photos, the design seems to lend itself well to your part of the globe. π Would love to have you guys up once we’re done & moved in!
Charles
Good afternoon. I’m please to see the progress on your house and have a question. You refer to the hardie application as an expressed joint application. Can you tell me what joint/edge product you used, and what your cost/sf was for the hardie board application?
Thanks!
Tash @ thedreamhouseproject
Hi Charles, thanks for following along. We used J-Trim on the edges of the Hardie Panels to achieve the expressed joint look. I don’t know what our cost was per sq. foot, but I’ll reach out to our PM to get that info for you.
Charles
Tash, Thanks for your message but please don’t ask your PM about the cost, I can calculate it now that I know the product. Best regards, Charles

Not a problem, Charles. Happy to help. Best of luck with your build. We’d love to see pics once you’re done!
