Hi again friends. It’s March and it’s Spring Home Tour Day!!!  Today we’re excited to be sharing a bit more of the Dreamhouse with you all!  It’s been a while since we shared our first ever home tour, but we’ve never actually shared a walkthrough of our living space when it wasn’t all decked out for the holidays.  We figured it was about time we came out of hibernation to remedy that. We’re joining Shannon of Home Made Lovely and Christina of The DIY Mommy along with 21 other amazingly talented Canadian bloggers and all of us are opening up our homes to bring you a healthy dose of inspiration for Spring. At the bottom of this post, you’ll find new posts from different bloggers every day this week – all things Spring. Hopefully Mother Nature will take notice and things outside of our homes will catch up.

But back to the spring home tour… Let’s start things off at the front of the house.  You might remember Operation Organized Entryway – also known as our first and failed attempt at the One Room Challenge where things didn’t exactly go as intended.  We still haven’t quite completed that mission the way we had originally planned it out, but things have definitely come a long way in the right direction since then.

We get an insane amount of natural light in here which can make photographing the space a bit challenging.  Having windows that essentially allow you to see through from the front to the back of the house is probably one of our favourite features though so it’s a tough thing to really complain about. #firstworldproblems

We’ve been wanting to paint an accent in the entryway to match our IKEA Fardal hi-gloss closet doors forever and now that we finally got around to it we’re so glad that we did! We used PARA Paints Deep Sea Fishing (P5014-85) and the colour couldn’t be more of a perfect match.

It only took 2+ years, but we’ve finally got some family photos up in this place!

Turning left from the entryway, we come into the first living space on the main floor. When we designed the house, one of the things we were adamant about was that we didn’t want to have a formal living room.  Because the layout of our main floor is essentially one very long open space, we’ve used furniture pieces to separate it.  We like to call this space the conversation area.

We built a DIY faux fireplace to anchor the space.  Eventually the plan is to add a gas insert to convert it into a working fireplace. We’ve also been searching for the perfect rug for this space for months – so it’s still something of a work in progress. For now it’s just a nice place to sit and relax with a good book or a glass of wine.

As you might be able to tell, we’re not typically ones for traditional seasonal decor, but having a few plants and flowers around always helps to kick those winter blues & brighten things up a bit.

We came across this quote in a meme recently & couldn’t stop laughing. It pretty much perfectly describes the sentiment in the house during the colder months so we figured this DIY print would make a perfect centerpiece for the mantel.

Moving into the family room, not a whole lot in here has changed since we first shared it with you, but that’s kind of the beauty of having a space like this that’s relatively neutral.  Even though our rug adds a lot of colour, it gives us a ton of options for pulling out an accent which means it doesn’t take much to refresh the space from time to time with just a few simple additions.  Can you tell that right now we’re loving the turquoise and blue tones?

Throw pillows are always an easy thing to change out with the seasons. We’ve also added a couple of watercolour art prints which definitely brighten things up.  We thought flowers were fitting for Spring.

Our dining area sits next to the family room at the back of the house. We decided to set the table how we might have it for a typical spring brunch.

That brings us to the kitchen – which as you know is our most recently completed space and we’re still pretty in love with it.

We had to make a slight update to our coffee station.  Because, well – we never call it that anymore. Thanks to a certain ‘stable genius’ south of the border, our morning beverage of choice shall now henceforth be known as Covfefe 😀  We had this awesome custom sign made for us by the lovely & talented Andrea of Blissful Days Designs. Covfefe, anyone?

Heading upstairs to the final stop on our little tour is our master bedroom. If you remember, when we designed the bedroom, we used the paint colour of our DIY barn door as the jump off point for the colour scheme. For spring though, it’s always nice to update the bedding.  It’s a simple way to keep things fresh from season to season.
